Decommissioning Activity Update

August 27, 2026

Thank you for your interest, cooperation and patience during energetic felling activities of the wind turbines at the Casper Wind Farm Decommissioning site.

We are pleased to share that energetic felling, the controlled use of explosives to safely bring down structures, has been completed. Disassembly of the remaining wind turbines using a crane and transportation activities will continue at the site, so community members may continue to see equipment and vehicle activity in the area.

We remain committed to conducting this work safely and responsibly while minimizing disruptions to neighboring businesses and the surrounding community.

Advance Notice: Planned Wind Turbine Removal Activities at Casper Wind Farm

August 21, 2026

Casper Wind Farm Decommissioning Update

As part of ongoing decommissioning activities at the Casper Wind Farm in Natrona County, Chevron and its contractor plan to use energetic felling techniques, including controlled explosives, to remove select wind turbine towers beginning approximately 72 hours from this notice.

This notice is being issued on Friday, August 21 to provide stakeholders with adequate review time. The 72-hour notification period will begin on the next business day, Monday, August 24, at 8:00 a.m.

The use of energetic felling is a planned part of the wind turbine removal process.

What neighbors may notice:

  • A brief, loud noise at the time of tower felling.
  • Temporary vibration that may be felt in areas near the project site.
  • Increased activity from construction equipment, cranes, trucks, and work crews supporting decommissioning activities.
  • Traffic associated with project work along local routes, including Stonewood Street and Sunburst Drive.

The activity is being carried out under established safety procedures and work controls. We appreciate the community’s patience as this work progresses. Residents with questions or concerns may contact the project team through the community hotline at 855-285-9595 or visit the project website at casperwindfarmdecommissioning.com.
